Mountain Designs Adventure Race Australia - August 2010
Just Some of the Feedback Received So Far…..
Wirrina Cove course on the stunning Fleurieu Peninsula was the most challenging and enjoyable event yet. The course took in some magnificent natural features, with ridge lines leading to rolling hills and views along the coastline. Wirrina Cove Resort was the perfect place to base this event and we’re looking forward to more adventures in this beautiful part of the world. Ray Schueboeck Race Report
Thanks guys, it was a great day racing yesterday. We had a lot of fun trying to hide from the sudden hail storm J. Thanks again for a great organization and a successful day. Good luck for Perth and see you next year, Eddie
Hi Robyn, Just a short email to say what a fantastic day today. Weather was a challenge but that just made it more exciting and of course, wetter. Thanks for putting on a great event. Can't wait for next year and will be telling everyone that they should be having a go next year. One word "awesome fun"!!!!! Thankyou, Paul Schofield and Roger Willans
Hi Robyn, Just to let you know we had a great time and impressed with your setup and proffessionalism. Look forward to a great one next year, Graham
The view from the ridge was amazing, and even more so was the feeling of running down the last hill to the finish line. I’d just ran, rode and paddled for almost four and a half hours around the Fleurieu Peninsula. I’d been rained on, hailed on, covered in mud, scratched and slightly lost. But it was the most rewarding experience I have had in ages. I’d learnt teamwork skills and proven that I’m capable of what I set my mind to. The ARA RAW Course is a fantastic experience for anyone, like myself, who has always wanted to give Adventure Racing a shot, but been too scared to do it before. I’ll definitely be back next year! The race would not have been possible without the help of Wirrina Cove Caravan Park, Mountain Designs, In 2 Adventure and the volunteers who helped set up, run and pack up the event. Mountain Design Adventure destination. It ticked all the boxes. Wirrina Cove, post card perfect. Undulating hills, tick. Magnificent Second Valley Forest, tick. Exquisite coast lines, tick. Unbeatable accommodation options, tick. Despite the rare weather conditions, which in fact added to the adventure, it was all that it promised. The course was excellent, it was challenging, it was well organised, the food was delicious, the scenery was beautiful and they even threw in a few kangaroos. So join us for the next Adventure Race in South Australia, but if you hear the words 'Cold Snap' don't be fooled, bring your Mountain Design water proof jacket, you'll need it! From team: Lizards Drinking PS: A big thank you to the race organisers and a special thanks to the volunteers.
The race was certainly a challenge, and there was no doubt the 'hardcore' event was just that- although the raw event was probably as tough considering the conditions. The Wirrina cove/Second Valley area is superb for adventure racing, and the facilities there were excellent- the showers alone made the event centre a winner. A big thank you to all the organisers and volunteers. Team Escapegoat Adventures
